Sarah Shahi plays "Carmen de la
Pica Morales" - a part-time DJ who wants to make it big on the spinning
scene, but pays the bills as a production assistant. Her days are spent on
sets where she meets sexy hairdresser Shane and quickly becomes smitten with
her - as most girls do. Her nights, however, are spent with her passion -
either DJ-ing or hanging out at clubs listening for the next cool track to
grace her ears. It's at one of these clubs where she meets a girl who may be
more available for love than Shane seems to be. Carmen soon becomes caught
between two possible loves. The stakes are high and the outcome is
unpredictable for this sweet girl who doesn't play games where love is
concerned. She turned Shane's head once, but can she succeed in getting her
to take a second glance or will girl #2 be the one to win Carmen's
affections. This Latina beauty (the daughter of a Mayan medicine man) may
prove to be the most grounded character in Season 2, but she can certainly
still turn up the heat.
Sarah Shahi (also known as Sara Shahi) was born January 10, 1980 in Euless,
Texas. Shahi is proof that remarkable people sometimes come from
unremarkable places. Euless, (oftentimes referred to as "Useless" by locals)
is a forgettable suburb of the classier Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Always an overachiever and diehard competitor, Sarah threw herself into
intellectual pursuits, beauty pageants, sports, and the arts. In addition to
graduating near the top of her class at Southern Methodist University (SMU),
Sarah also trained as an opera singer and earned a brown belt in karate. In
1999 she became one of the elite Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and even
appeared as the cover girl on the squad's 2000 calendar.
The gorgeous smile and talented past isn't all that makes Miss Shahi
special, however. This Persian beauty sports a royal lineage as well. Her
parents moved to the U.S. from Iran more than 25 years ago, leaving behind
most of their relatives. It's a family tree that is nearly impossible to
list however, since Shahi's Great-Great-Grandfather was Fath Ali Shah (also
known as Baba Khan), the 2nd Shah of the Qajar dynasty and it's true
founder, fathering over 100 children. Perhaps it's from him that Sarah gets
her passion for acting and desire for fame. The Shah was known as a patron
of the arts, and Sarah has been quoted as saying that she wants "to be the
most famous actor the world's ever seen." She wants to "build a kingdom"
with her career in the entertainment industry. Now we know that she can
sing, dance, and act, and has the drive to back it up. Anything is possible
for this go-getter.
Up until now, her TV bio has consisted mostly of guest-starring roles on
popular TV series. Her first was on Spin City, but she has also
guest-starred on Boston Public, Frasier, Dawson's Creek, Reba, and a few
others, as well as a long stint on Alias playing "Jenny." She was a series
regular on the short-lived Class of '06 and played "Erica" in the DreamWorks
comedy Old School. Shahi even took a real-life class in oral sex to prepare
for her role in the film. Since moving to L.A. in 2000, Sarah has be
steadily making her mark. Joining this cast of talented, beautiful ladies is
just another step on her way to becoming Hollywood royalty.
