A human rights organisation that works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls is auctioning a unique prize to raise funds.
Equality Now is offering a walk-on part for the final season of The L Word to the highest bidder.
The award-winning drama featuring the lives and loves of lesbian, bi and trans women in LA has been a huge hit in the US and Europe.
"The L Word will culminate early next year in eight final episodes, marking the end of an era chronicling the lives of these iconic characters who have played a pivotal role in changing cultural perceptions of lesbians and the transgender community on and off screen," the show's producers said.
The winner will get a behind-the-scenes look at how one of television’s hottest series gets filmed, meet some of the actors, tour the production facility, and eat lunch with the cast and crew. And they can bring a friend.
Starting bid for the walk-on role is $1,000 (£547).
Bidding begins on August 27, 2008 and ends on September 3, 2008.
The available dates of the walk-on are September 8 to 30, 2008, in Vancouver, Canada.
The exact dates will be announced to the winner.
Winner must contact Equality Now by September 5, 2008 to finalize dates. Winner must be available in Vancouver for a minimum of 2-3 week days.
Winner may bring one guest. The guest is only allowed to visit the set and will not participate in the walk-on experience. Winner is required to be at least 21 years of age, and the guest must be 18 years old unless s/he is the child of the winner, in which case the parent/legal guardian is required to sign a Guest Liability and Publicity Release on behalf of the minor. Winner and guest will need valid passports to enter Canada.
Neither Showtime Networks Inc., Equality Now or their parents, affiliates, successors, licensees or assignees are responsible for airfare, hotel, transfers, or any other expenses for Winner or guest. Winner is solely responsible for all of his or her costs related to this trip.
100% of the proceeds from this auction (a tax-deductible contribution, minus any eBay or PayPal fees) will benefit Equality Now, an international human rights organization that works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world.
